October 17, 2007
This morning we has clinical and Leslie and I were at the mobile clinic again, and today went so well! We understood the filing system, I was able to chart, distribute meds and council patients who needed education on coping mechanisms, and how to deal with their diagnosis and symptoms. It was such a great day and an overall good learning experience. I got to be a “pharmacist” and count meds, write prescriptions on the packages, and double check meds and their administration. The morning went by very fast, and before I knew it we were leaving to head home for lunch. I grabbed a quick lunch and then we were on our way to NMMU for our political science class. Our class today was very interesting and we discussed Burton and Azar’s theories in South African conflict. I really enjoy our professor and the material that she teaches on. She is very unbiased and she explains all angles of an issue and she can explain things so well and can help us to relate to the material. We came home from class and I began research for one of the papers and projects that I have coming up (I have three in total due within the next week and a half). I will be busy with homework and research these next few days, but thankfully I have the weekend to work on things. For dinner, Alex, Carrie, Katherine, Ashley, Denise, and I went to Gondwanas and the weather was nice for us to sit on the patio to eat. Dinner was very good and Carrie and I ordered a strawberry colada and it was one of my personal favorites of the trip! We came home and I have been sitting in my room doing research ever since. Not too much to report and nothing exceptionally interesting happened today!
